How can we find a peaceful and mutually satisfactory resolution of our conflicts? How shall we accommodate difference? Successful conflict resolvers are not born - they are trained. In this technological age, people often find it difficult to communicate face to face and there exists the very real possibility for miscommunication and conflict. There are options out there! let's get global perspective to this topic!

Conflicts are universal and vary according to regions, people and cultures for resources, identity, better governance, ethnic and religious differences. Even if we peep through the history, there were many conflicts which have changed the course of mankind. Some conflicts resulted better scope while some worsen the situation more.
I want to highlight the conflict in the situation of my country in Nepal, the decade long Maoist insurgency since 1996 to 2006 which killed about ten thousand people and pushed the economic and social well being of the country at least 30 years back. The main demands were the new inclusive constitution and federal states on the basis of castes. These were provoking and assuring statements for all the marginalized and underprivileged people to boost the insurgency. But the consequences were fatal in the long run.
As a youth raised in this insurgency period, we have faced all the situations leading for the peace process and settlements of its political agenda. But the major question is has the conflict been resolved or is it postponed? The First Constitution Assembly election was a fiasco and the second Constitution Assembly is leading some hopes for the drafting of the constitution but has loopholes for another disaster. This Maoist insurgency was in fact a class conflict where the lower class people were misguided for their basic human needs and hope of better life and equal identity.
Yah, there were situations in the past where the high caste society dominated and marginalized the lower caste people but after the ceasefire every lower caste were over cautious about their rights and identity that they started demanding separate communal rights, positive discrimination and political space. They should be assured with those rights but it does not mean the younger generation of so called high class people get discriminated and deprived with all the rights and assurance. The conflict resolution is an assurance where the younger generation of the underprivileged get the equity rights or fair chance but not at the cost of producing any chunk of unsatisfied and intimidated generation. Right conflict resolution is a fair upgrade not a revenge.
So, with the assurance of proper policy formation at the political level ,the common Nepalese people should also realize that we are culturally, socially and religiously diverse. The conflicts should be resolved with change in mindset and social equity. All people are not equal and differences should be resolved on equity basis and with fair chances. People should not seize each other’s rights affiliating with certain political or cultural groups.
Now, the world is getting more complex with the access of social media with everybody able to project their ideas randomly with little or no knowledge on certain sensitive issues. We can’t please everybody in post conflict situation. It should be on equity basis give and take situation. Some people with grudges ,preoccupied mindset forget the bloody sacrifices we had to offer during insurgency. They post raging communal statements accusing other communities and cultures of the deeds in the past. These cultural and religious issues are sensitive and may provoke other people as well who were dormant.
Forget and move on….No grudges…How long we fight and stay in conflict? We have to lead a way forward for a better future. So, the use of social media should be used as repetitive constructive display for cultural tolerance and ethnic understanding. Pictures, videos.,articles, blogs based on mutual tolerance and constructive situations should be portrayed. There will be some people to provoke for a day, for a month but if every people on social media are aware of their responsibility then the majority will win. Conflict resolution will get a better ground among the local common people.
After all every normal people want peace and happy family. Let’s do from our part…people will go for peace and fraternity. Social media is a vital weapon for institutionalizing conflict tolerance and conflict resolution.
Contd… …

Conflict is always an issue and will always be there on various ways. The best way is to sort a way out personally or socially either through a negotiation or creative peace building.
Every conflict may have a local or regional solution so we need to find a solution in a local initiation and with the local perspective which will have a sustainable effect. In the developing countries ,the peace building and peace initiation should be termed with the local initiation respecting the local values. A pressured peace arranged by the foreign agencies may not be sustainable as it cannot address the local values.
